Young learners
A welcoming story and small practical steps make unfamiliar technical work easier to enter.
8-BIT offered to write this page. We checked his draft.
Code Nexus teaches AI engineering by giving you a fictional job: a team, a product and problems that need a decision. It was built by educators who wanted learners to practise the decisions behind technology, not just watch someone else make them.
Proudly South African
Built in South Africa, where "robot" means traffic light. 8-BIT is still processing that.
The team behind Code Nexus includes Cisco Certified Systems Instructors, Microsoft Certified Trainers, and CompTIA Train the Trainer certified educators. Together, they hold numerous industry certifications and bring years of teaching and hands-on technical experience.
Most online tech courses are a video, a quiz and a certificate of attendance. Years in classrooms taught us that nodding along is not the same as knowing, so every skill here is explained, used in a realistic situation, then backed with evidence.
Code Nexus is proudly South African. It is built here for learners with different starting points and schedules, and for technical skills they can carry into a global industry.
Why "Nexus"? It's where things connect: code, cloud, AI, and the people arguing about all three.

Code Nexus is an Approved Provider with The CPD Group, provider #791172, for continuing professional development.
You don't have to take our word for it, and certainly not 8-BIT's. Verify it on The CPD Register.
Different schedules and starting points. The same 24 hours in a day.
A welcoming story and small practical steps make unfamiliar technical work easier to enter.
Workplace decisions and realistic constraints connect learning to the problems teams solve.
Self-paced episodes let learners make progress around work, family, and other commitments.
Clear context and practical examples support people exploring technology at a new stage of life.
We shaped Code Nexus in conjunction with these different learner groups. Their perspectives helped us build a holistic approach that combines practical work, a continuing story, and certification-aligned skills.
Every episode ends with something you can explain, not just something you clicked through.
Meet the people, product, and decision in front of you.
Get the technical ideas you need for the situation.
Make a choice, inspect evidence, or build a practical change.
Leave verified evidence and prepare for the next milestone.
Seven colleagues and one AI assistant, all fictional. Do pay attention to the AI behind the curtain: checking 8-BIT's answers is part of the course.

Senior AI Engineer · Your mentor
Calm, precise and quietly dry. Starts you on checklists, then takes them away. "It runs. Now show me what happens when the input is wrong."

Platform and DevOps Engineer
Linux, containers, pipelines and incident recovery. Writes his best runbooks right after something breaks. "It worked on my machine. I've updated the runbook to say why that wasn't enough."

ML and Data Engineer
Data quality, evaluation and responsible AI. Sceptical of any result that looks too good. "The accuracy improved. Which group did we leave out?"

Cloud Architect
Azure, AWS, architecture and resilience. Warm, and suspicious of unexplained spend. "Azure will provision it. Finance will ask whether we needed it."

Security Engineer
Identity, least privilege, secrets and incident control. Deadpan about boundaries. "Nobody will guess the URL is not an access control."

Product Manager
Requirements, priorities and stakeholders. Arrived asking "can we add AI?" and now brings constraints. "I brought a reason and a success measure this time."

Creator Partnerships Lead
The voice of Code Nexus's creators: user impact, accessibility and unusual tickets. "Nobody uses it that way? I have twelve screenshots."
Code Nexus Internal AI Assistant
A fictional internal AI assistant. Helpful, fast, and occasionally too sure of himself, which is why his work always comes with something you can verify.
The story carries the work; certification checkpoints give learners clear milestones.
Counts are read from the currently authored curriculum. Each season links practical work to a growing set of skills.
Code Nexus prepares learners for external exams; each certification is issued by its provider.
The most practical*, least boring* way to learn AI engineering.
